Evil cow-beasts, and other animals

January 26, 2010

The evil cow-beast in question is none other than a rather heavily converted Hellcannon which Andrew has finally finished converting and painting for his Warriors of Chaos army. Now, we are very much anti-prejudice in the Ibis office and would normally never dream of judging cow-beasts merely on their appearances, but I think we can agree that this one looks pretty darn nasty…

Converted Hellcannon and crew

Graah, argh, gatharg... Ahem.

Also a couple of characters from Andrew’s Warriors of Chaos army:

Khorne Lord on Juggernaught- lovely model, not all that much use in the game

Exalted Hero, having some issues with incoming bowfire

Andrew's Exalted Sorcerer, made from last year's Games Day model

Ches has also finished off his Plagueclaw Catapult. Indeed, much work has been done on the ratty horde, but the camera batteries only lasted long enough to capture this little beauty:

Plagueclaw Catapult- incoming!

Joe has also been busily painting Cold One Knights and Shades for his monochrome Dark Elves, photos of which will be forthcoming soon. We’ve also been getting on with another Skaven army for the Sheffield Slaughter this weekend as well as Ches’s (a little sympathy is also due to the dear chap after his not-all-that-fun-sounding dental surgery today), and are starting on a shiny new Eldar army in the very near future. So little time, so many models to paint…

Daemons vs Monsters

January 24, 2010

There have been lots of fangs, claws, scales and nasty beady eyes at the Ibis offices this week, and that’s just the staff…

First things first, we’ve finished off yet another Tyranid army:

Hive Fleet Kraken or Leviathan? I always forget...

With the traditonal shiny new things too…

It's surely not possible to get bored of painting this model. And don't call me Shirley...

Furie conversions, anyone?

We’ve also taken the opportunity to have a sneaky look at some of Mr James Meredith’s more recent exploits. James is a very talented and some might say slightly obsessive painter. He’s recently sold his Crimson Fists Space Marines but kept a couple of the shinier bits and pieces to himself, and is working away on a very nice looking Daemon army.

Khorne Herald.

That's Mr Khorne Herald to you...

A bit of a close-up.

Crimson Fists' Librarian

There will hopefully be another update tomorrow with some more of Ches’s rats in preparation for the upcoming Sheffield Slaughter. We’ll also be taking photos of Joe’s Dark Elves and there might even be a finished Hellcannon, you never know.

Till then, we’re off for tea and tiffin. Gotta love that tiffin.

Big red bug…

January 18, 2010

The new Trygon.

It would be a very bad idea to even think about pulling its tail…

What’s that coming over the hill..?

January 18, 2010

Why, it's a very large Tyranid army

That’s a whole lotta bugs, and there are more still to come for Hive Fleet Behemoth before we move onto the Leviathan colour scheme…

In other news, Team Globo Gym performed well at A Gathering of Might, with Andrew winning the whole gosh darn tournament with his Daemons, beating Ches’s Skaven into third place in the last round. Joe finished seventh with his Wood Elves after experiencing some <ahem> difficulties with large numbers of Stegadons.

The converting of the Dreaded Hellcannon is now complete, pictures will follow in due course along with Ches’s Plague Claw catapult, some of Joe’s new High Elf army, and anything else that happens to be lying around the office.

Updatings

January 14, 2010

We’ve been suitably busy in the Ibis office this week- Andy and Ches went to the Bad Dice UK Masters tournament (for the very bestest players in the whole country) over the weekend and managed very decent 6th and 4th places with Daemons and Skaven respectively (Joe spent the weekend eating biscuits and drinking tea- I think we know who did best out of that, eh?), and we’re all getting ready for the Gathering of Might event run at Warhammer World this coming weekend. What busy bees we are.

It’s the Year of the Rat for Ches, which means lots of Skaven to paint (and for Andy to convert), starting with a War Litter, Doomflayer and Warp Lightning Cannon:

War Litter- forward loyal minions!

Doomflayer- spiky!

Warp Lightning Cannon

Andy is busily painting his Warriors of Chaos for the Sheffield Slaughter at the end of the month, but seems unworried by the impending deadline and instead just sits in the corner creating yet more bizarre models out of any bits that happen to be lying around…

Forsaken. With tentacles of course.

Spot the Evil Parrot!

Everyone say 'bleurgh!'

And finally, some awfully Chaotic looking Dwarfs. Given that there are three of them, it’s not hard to guess what’s next for Andy to paint. Guessing what the heck he’s converted it out of, on the other hand…

Hi ho, hi ho...

On the painting desk for work is a large Tyranid army, a large Lizardman army, some Vampire Counts odds and ends. Stay tuned for more details kids.

Introductions and some rambling

January 8, 2010

Crikey Mildred, it’s the first post of the blog. Might as well do some introductions then. Ibis Miniatures is a loose alliance of Andy Isherwood, Andy Chesney, Joe Sturge and Dave Holmes- we paint toy soldiers for a living.

Specifically, we paint by commission and for Ebay models from a wide variety of manufacturers including Games Workshop, Warlord Games, Mantic Games, and have been known to dabble in all sorts of other Historical, Sci-Fi and Fantasy toy soldiery. In the mists of the distant past, a wandering sage suggested that we set up and maintain some kind of online account of what we’ve been painting week by week. Being regular attenders of Procrastinators Anonymous (when we can be arsed, anyway), this of course entirely failed to happen for quite some time, but we’ll be doing our best to post regular photos of anything interesting, shiny or frankly disgusting that’s lying around the office for the forseeable future.

To be continued.
